Missions Ministry

At TBC, we take very serious the Great Commission to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ with the world.  Temple Baptist currently supports over 80 missionaries who are taking the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world. These missionaries are supported prayerfully and financially through Faith Promise giving.

FAITH PROMISE GIVING

Since 2009, the Global Outreach Mission Ministry budget of Temple Baptist Church has been provided by the Lord over and above the general budget through the Faith Promise Giving.

The Scriptural basis for this concept is found in II Corinthians 9:5. Paul had been boasting to the Macedonians about the eagerness of the Corinthian church to help the ministry. On his previous trip to Corinth, they had expressed a willingness to contribute to the spreading of the Gospel. Since Paul did not want the Corinthians to be unprepared and then embarrassed when the Macedonians arrived with him, he encouraged the Corinthians to go ahead and make a decision in their hearts about how much they would be willing to give before the messengers would arrive.

2 Corinthians 9:5 – Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

The Faith Promise is a generous, willing offering that members of TBC give as God speaks to their hearts. The promise to give is based upon the faith to receive. It is not a promise to give something you already have, but faith to promise to give something you don’t have. A Faith Promise is simply trusting the Lord for the ability to give an amount of money which you are not able to give in order that you might use it specifically for Christ’s cause of taking the gospel to the nations.

2 Corinthians 8:3 – For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;

Faith Promise Mission Giving supports national and international missions.  The members of TBC are making an investment in the gospel each week as the send the good news both across the street into our community and around the world.  In addition, TBC frequently serves on mission trips both home and abroad.
